If you’re missing teeth, you have many options, including affordable quality implant-supported dentures. While you can take your dentures out at night, they stay in your mouth securely during the day with no messy dental adhesives. If you contact our office for an appointment, our dentist can determine if you are a good candidate for implant-supported dentures.
Implant-supported dentures will replace a full arch of missing teeth just like traditional dentures except implants hold them in place, not through suction or dental adhesive. You’ll enjoy the same benefits as people who have natural teeth, including the ability to speak and chew properly and eating foods that traditional denture wearers have to avoid. You’ll enjoy your favorite foods with confidence again.
Enjoying a good meal with friends and family is one of life’s joys. If you wear traditional dentures, you’re missing out on the pleasure of being able to eat what you want at a fine-dining restaurant or a family dinner. Aren’t you tired of avoiding foods like corn-on-the-cob because you can bite down with the front of your teeth? Some people even resort to placing equal amounts of food on each side of their mouth so their conventional dentures don’t move around in their mouth.
Implant dentures work by attaching to implants fused into the jawbone. Typically, implant-supported dentures attach to implants using a bar and clip system or a ball-retained system which uses balls on the implant and sockets in the denture. Your dentist will help you select the most appropriate attachment system when creating your treatment plan.
After you choose your permanent denture, your dentist will place implants in your jawbone and give the bone time to fuse with them to create a stable anchor with the strength of a natural tooth root. On your subsequent visit, your dentist will expose the tops of the implants and place abutments to hold your denture. We suggest you choose a high-quality denture since you won’t need to replace it every five years or so like you would if you were to select conventional dentures. High-end dentures nearly perfectly replicate natural teeth and gums.
Every one of our patient’s needs differ so the cost of denture implants varies. We understand cost is a concern so we urge our patients to request a consultation to get an estimate of their total cost after an examination. Factors reflected in our fee include the number of implants, the quality of the denture you select and whether you’ll need any preparation work. While coverage varies, many dental insurance plans do not cover implant-supported dentures. Please call our office to ask about our payment options.
Implant-supported dentures offer aesthetic as well as functional benefits. They restore your ability to bite and chew food which you couldn’t wearing conventional dentures. An implant denture also makes it easy to speak clearly without worrying about denture movement. An implant denture, also called an overdenture, can help preserve the shape of your face by helping prevent jawbone deterioration. By preventing natural shrinkage, you will retain a youthful appearance.
Regular office visits are essential to maintaining healthy gums and making sure your dentures still fit correctly. Clean your denture twice daily with a soft or extra-soft toothbrush. Use a non-abrasive cleaner which your dentist will recommend as dentures get plaque on them too. Carefully clean your gums, especially around the abutments. With proper dental hygiene, your implant dentures should provide years of dependable service. Periodically, you’ll return to have our dentist check the tissue around your abutments and to professionally clean your dentures. We like to build long-term relationships with our patients so we can ensure their dentures remain comfortable and attractive.
An implant-supported denture is a major decision. Our dentists can help you decide if this is the best teeth replacement option for you. If you have questions or concerns about our affordable quality implant-supported dentures or you would like to schedule an appointment, please call our office.
